This is a genuine FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) bullet designed to be fired from the AK47 assault rifle.  39mm refers to the cartridge length which was Warsaw Pact standard and is still widely used in the AK47 Kalashnikov.

The bullet is diamond engraved. It is lead filled, covered with a brass (high copper content) Full Metal Jacket. 7-62.com passify the bullet to offset tarnishing and clear coat the base to offset the dangers of lead. This ammunition is not as shiny as the NATO ammunition and has minor blemishes... it is the genuine (new) article. We have filled the pores in the copper surface with a coating to slow down tarnishing, which still allows you to bring them back to full shine with a little metal polish - but be aware... you will have to polish it (but not as often as the NATO version which contains more copper). Bullets with a base ring are clear coated to stop tarnishing. If the coating wears away and the bullet needs polishing or recoating read FAQs. Bullet metal is slightly ductile, if you hit it hard enough it will dent, and it will wear if subject to prolongued abrassion. Copper is more suitable than silver for harsh use i.e. keyring as it can be engraved far deeper. For a harder longer lasting bullet, the gold plated version is the answer.
